Welcome to my read along with me blog, Hello my name is Jimena and I love books

Beginning in March

I joined a cult yesterday,

“In March the earth remembers its own name. Everywhere the plates of snow are cracking. The rivers begin to sing. In the sky the winter stars are sliding away; new stars appear as, later, small blades of grain will shine in the dark fields.”

Hello again, It is March and I am beginning again. I am beginning to read again, I am beginning to feel the warmth of the sun on my face, and I am beginning a journey into writing and reading. I had the inclination to begin a book-related social media, bookstagram, booktok, etc. for a while and I am so happy to have started. In this post, I’m going to share with you all the books I plan to read this month and my current read. The first two picks are books I am finishing off, Lapvona by Ottessa Moshfegh, and Love Me by Rachel Shukert. The first book is about a god-fearing medieval village that experiences imposed chaos. The latter is the sequel to “Starstruck” and follows three young women in the Golden Age of Hollywood as they undergo the Olympus studio star system while navigating prescribed pills, studio-approved romance, and the perils of fame.

My February hopefuls are Animal by Lisa Taddeo, The Women of Troy by Pat Barker, and Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I’m currently reading The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde I am unfamiliar with classic literature but I’ve found this novel seldom overwhelming. It’s the featured book of the month from a cult (book club) I’ve recently joined; The Cult of Classic Literature hosted by Lady Dakota Warren. My thoughts on this so far: dark, eloquent, and filled with mystery, this gothic classic fills the reader with a sense of dread of the forthcoming downfall, it feels as though something is about to happen, but what it is I can’t be sure.

I have also recently shared my first book review on Nightshift by Kiare Ladner, Nightshift is a fascinating and cool-toned insight into a young woman’s transition from a monotonous existence into a hedonistic lifestyle that arises from the decision to exchange her comfortable day job for night shifts, this story is unique and harrowing. Although slow-moving during some points, I was compelled to keep reading as I wanted to know if the protagonists, two women connected by fascination with each other, for which the basis could be love of lust, would bring one another’s downfall. The full review of this book is posted on my Goodreads.

Thank you so much for following me on my socials and reading this blog, I already have 20 followers on my Instagram!

I’m so happy you’re here:)
