The calm before the snowstorm,
“I lost myself on a cool, damp night
I gave myself in that misty light
Was hypnotized by a strange delight
Under a lilac tree“
The sudden chill of a surprise winter storm puts a reader in the mood for finishing up a eerie story such as The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. As the mystery unfolds the hypnotic setting shifts between dreamlike and nightmarish. I was very pleased to finish my first classic novella, I loved the commitment to a spooky atmosphere and I often felt a chill creeping up while feeling immersed in the tension and suspense. I read this story during the storm, I was so preoccupied in this story that I actually jumped a little bit the moment I heard thunder outside my window! I am happy to share that I have written a short but sweet review and it’s up now on my Goodreads. I am happily working my way down the TBR list and I have wrapped up Love Me by Rachel Shukert. The sequel to Starstruck this book is a nice addition to the story by continuing the main character’s conflicts in the previous book. A book I’m really looking forward to reading however is Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I haven’t the faintest idea what this book could be about, but having enjoyed other novels by TJR I eagerly await with anticipation. As I have shared, I love supporting my local library however the day after the storm the library was closed and I realized this after having making it to the entrance of the library door. It looks like I might have to wait a little while longer to pick up my hold. Spring has flirted and bestowed rare kisses of sunshine, I can’t wait for warmer days.
